About This Course
You take approximately 20,000 breaths every day. Every one of them involves a coordinated movement of muscle, bone, and connective tissue. Every one of them sends a signal through the nervous system. Every one of them influences your heart rate, your blood chemistry, your mental state, and your energy level.
Yet most people have never been taught how breathing actually works. They have never examined the anatomy of the lungs, the mechanics of the diaphragm, the chemistry of gas exchange, or the profound relationship between the breath and the nervous system. They breathe but they do not understand breathing.
This course changes that. Functional Anatomy of Breathing is a complete, text-based academic course that builds a thorough, practical understanding of the respiratory system, from the structure of the airways to the biochemistry of gas exchange, from the mechanics of the diaphragm to the neurological pathways that connect every breath to your state of mind.
Course Navigation & Progress
To ensure your progress through the course is recorded correctly, it is important to complete each lesson in sequence. After working through all of the information on a lesson page, scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find the “Mark as Complete” button. Once you have read the lesson and completed any required activities, select “Mark as Complete”. This registers the lesson as completed within the learning system and allows your course progress to be tracked accurately. You can then select “Next” to continue to the following lesson.
Please make sure you use “Mark as Complete” before moving forward. This step is essential because it keeps your course progression, completion records and learning pathway running correctly throughout the programme.
“Breath is the only autonomic function we can consciously control. Understanding it transforms it from a background process into a tool for health, regulation and internal mastery.”
