NHS & HEALTH PRACTITIONERS

A structured movement pathway your patients can actually stay with

Ptah Khi School delivers Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung as a graded, evidence-informed practice, accredited, insured, and built to sit alongside clinical care, not replace it. This page is for GPs, physiotherapists, social prescribers, and NHS teams considering a referral or commissioning route.

Why Tai Chi & Chi Kung

A low-impact practice with a genuine dose-response

Every course in the Ptah Khi Academic Science Series is built on the same principle: movement instruction grounded in functional anatomy, breath mechanics, and nervous-system regulation, not folklore. That’s the same foundation patients meet in every class.

Low impact, high accessibility

Seated and standing variations mean the practice can be adapted for limited mobility, post-injury recovery, and older adults, without stopping participation.

Nervous-system focused

Breath coordination and slow, controlled movement are taught explicitly as a stress and nervous-system regulation tool, not an incidental side effect.

Graded and progressive

Patients move through a defined belt and course structure, so progress is visible and pacing can be matched to individual capacity.

Observation & Correction

Classes are run as an ongoing community, supporting the social and adherence benefits that one-off exercise referrals often struggle to sustain.

THE REFERRAL PATHWAY

What happens after a referral lands

A deliberately simple, four-stage route from first contact to an ongoing practice, designed so a referring clinician always knows where their patient is in the process.

  • Referral In icon

    REFERRAL IN

    Referral or self-referral received

A practitioner, service, or the patient themselves gets in touch. We confirm suitability, any relevant health context, and the nearest appropriate entry point, in-person in Streatham or via the online Ptah Khi Academy.

  • Induction icon

    INDUCTION

    Free introductory session

Every patient begins with a no-cost introduction either the Tai Chi Walking gateway course or an in-person taster class, so there is no financial barrier to finding out whether the practice is right for them.

  • Structured practice session icon

    STRUCTURED PRACTICE

    Placement on the Foundation Pathway

Patients progress through graded classes at their own pace, with instructors briefed on any relevant precautions flagged at referral. Progress is visible through the belt and course structure rather than left informal.

  • Review and feedback icon

    REVIEW & FEEDBACK

Attendance and progress summary back to the referrer

Where a formal referral pathway is agreed, we can provide attendance confirmation and general progress notes back to the referring team, on request and with patient consent.

Standards & Safeguards

What sits behind every class
  • Accredited instruction

Ptah Khi School holds BCCMA, CIMSPA/MCIMSPA, and TCUGB accreditation, with training delivered under Sifu Sahu Tao Shen’s Wudang lineage instruction.

  • NHS Experience

Sahu has 4 years’ experience working within St Paul’s hospital, London, oncology department, as an complimentary therapist honorary consultant.

  • Structured curriculum, not improvisation

The Ptah Khi Academic Science Series gives every instructor and every referring clinician who wants to review it a documented functional-anatomy basis for what’s being taught.

  • Both in-person and remote access

Patients unable to attend Streatham in person can begin through the online Ptah Khi Academy, removing a common access barrier.
