THE CURRICULUM
More than practice. Precision teaching
The Chi Kung Instructor Course is not simply an extension of personal practice. It is a structured transformation of how you understand, embody, and transmit the internal arts — developing you as a practitioner and as a guide for others.
Internal Cultivation Mastery
Deepen your command of the Three Treasures — Jing, Chi, and Shen — through progressive refinement across all three course levels. Learn to sense, direct, and embody energy with precision.
Anatomy & Scientific Foundations
Understand the physiological basis of Chi Kung practice: the nervous system, respiratory mechanics, fascia, and the biomechanics of internal movement. Grounded in both classical theory and contemporary research.
Sequence Design & Adaptation
Learn to create your own Chi Kung sequences — structured for different populations, abilities, and contexts. From community wellbeing classes to clinical settings and corporate wellness programmes.
Observation & Correction
Develop the trained eye to assess student posture, alignment, and energy flow. Learn clear, precise cueing that guides students without disrupting their internal state.
Teaching Presence
Cultivate the stillness, clarity, and natural authority that comes from genuine internal practice. A teacher who embodies what they teach communicates at a level no manual can replicate.
Internal Cultivation Mastery
Gain full grounding in BCCMA professional standards, safeguarding responsibilities, insurance requirements, and the ethical framework expected of a registered instructor in the UK.
THE THREE LEVELS
A complete path from practitioner to professional.
CHI KUNG INSTRUCTOR COURSE LEVEL ONE
Foundation Practitioner of Internal Cultivation
The Art of Personal Structuring
Establish a thorough grounding in Chi Kung as a personal cultivation system. Students develop structural awareness, breath coordination, and attentional stability through foundational exercises, static postures, and core Chi Kung routines. At this stage, the emphasis is on direct personal experience and correct internal development. Students are guided to observe how posture, breathing, movement, and attention interact as a unified system rather than separate components.
A key developmental outcome of this level is the ability to organise practice into a coherent personal routine. This is not teaching or class design, but the ability to create a stable, repeatable structure that supports consistent internal cultivation over time. Through repetition and refinement, students begin to recognise patterns of tension, imbalance, and inefficiency, and learn how to regulate these through structured practice.
Learning Objectives
FOUNDATIONAL STATIC POSTURES
BASIC CHI KUNG EXERCISE SETS & ROUTINES
BA DUAN JIN FUNDAMENTALS
BREATH COORDINATION BASICS
POSTURAL STRUCTURE & ALIGNMENT
ATTENTIONAL AWARENESS DEVELOPMENT
PERSONAL PRACTICE ROUTINE STRUCTURING
CHI KUNG INSTRUCTOR COURSE LEVEL TWO
Chi Kung Instructor Qualification (Core Teaching Level)
The Art of Transmission
Develop the ability to structure, sequence, and deliver Chi Kung practices as complete teaching sessions. Students learn how to transform personal practice into clear, structured, and accessible class formats suitable for different individuals and groups. At this stage, the practitioner transitions from internal practice development into instructional competence. The focus is on how to communicate practice effectively, organise progression logically, and deliver sessions safely and confidently.
Students learn how to combine multiple Chi Kung elements into a coherent teaching framework, ensuring that movement, stillness, breathing, and awareness are integrated within a structured learning environment. A key outcome of this level is the ability to design and deliver full Chi Kung sessions that are safe, progressive, and adaptable to different ability levels.
Learning Objectives
CHI KUNG ROUTINE SEQUENCING FOR TEACHING
SESSION STRUCTURE & CLASS DESIGN
PROGRESSION PLANNING & LESSON FLOW
INTEGRATED CLASS DELIVERY SKILLS
BA DUAN JIN INSTRUCTIONAL APPLICATION

CHI KUNG INSTRUCTOR COURSE LEVEL THREE
Advanced Instructor & Professional Development Level
The Art of Guiding
At this level, students work with a fully integrated Chi Kung system that includes Static Standing Practice, Ba Duan Jin, and a wider range of Chi Kung exercise sets and internal cultivation routines. The practitioner develops advanced sensitivity, refined observational ability, and the capacity to adapt and evolve teaching in real time based on student needs, environment, and developmental stage. Practice becomes highly refined and deeply embodied. The instructor is no longer focused on delivering set structures alone, but on guiding internal development through intelligent adaptation of methods while maintaining the integrity of the system.
This level represents long-term professional development, where teaching becomes responsive, precise, and grounded in deep internal understanding. The instructor is able to maintain coherence across multiple methods while supporting individual progression within group settings. Graduates are equipped to register with the BCCMA as Instructor Members, join CIMSPA, and affiliate with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain — fully recognised to teach professionally across the UK.
