The Controlling or Destructive Cycle is not a cycle of destruction for its own sake; rather, it is the force that ensures nothing grows unchecked, ensuring balance and sustainability. Each element plays its part in moderating the others, Fire must be controlled by Metal, Metal must be limited by Wood, Wood must be restrained by Earth, and Earth must be balanced by Water. Each element holds within it the power to both create and control, to allow growth and ensure that growth does not overwhelm the land.
As the seasons change and the forces of nature shift, the balance of creation and destruction continues to turn, ensuring that everything in the forest, in the cycle, and in life itself, exists in harmony.
This is the Controlling or Destructive Cycle: the force that tempers, refines, and brings the necessary balance for life to thrive in its most sustainable form.
