Young people in the UK are facing a mental health crisis. One in six children aged 5–16 experiences a diagnosable mental health condition. Schools are increasingly expected to address SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs with limited specialist resource and under-trained staff.
Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung offer something unique in an educational setting: they are movement-based, non-competitive, require no equipment, work in a classroom or hall, and are appropriate from age 7 through to sixth form and beyond. They build the very capacities that support academic performance — attention, emotional regulation, breath awareness, and body confidence.
